Summer Dance at Encore: Keep Moving, Keep Growing

As recital season wraps up and the school year comes to a close, summer opens the door to something exciting — new opportunities, new goals, and new ways to grow as a dancer.

Summer at our studio is one of our favorite times of year. The pace is a little different, the energy is high, and dancers have the chance to explore, improve, and challenge themselves in ways that fit their goals.

This year, we’re offering three incredible ways to stay moving all summer long:

  • Themed Dance Camps
  • Focus Camps
  • An 8-Week Summer Class Session beginning June 1

Whether your dancer is just getting started or looking to level up their training, there’s something designed just for them.

Themed Dance Camps: Creativity, Confidence & Fun

Our themed dance camps are the perfect blend of imagination, movement, and creativity — especially for our younger dancers (and those young at heart!).

Each camp is built around a fun, engaging theme that brings dance to life in a whole new way. Dancers don’t just attend class — they step into an experience. From themed choreography and crafts to music and interactive activities, every day feels exciting and fresh.

Benefits of Themed Camps:

  1. Keeps Kids Active & Engaged
Summer can sometimes mean more screen time and less structure. Dance camps provide a healthy, active outlet where kids can move their bodies, use their imaginations, and stay energized.
  2. Builds Confidence in a Low-Pressure Setting
Camps are designed to be encouraging and fun. Dancers build skills without the pressure of long-term performance preparation, making it a great environment for trying new things.
  3. Encourages Social Connections
Camp settings help dancers form friendships and strengthen bonds with classmates. Working together on routines and activities builds teamwork and communication skills.
  4. Introduces Dance to New Students
For families new to dance, themed camps are a perfect introduction. They allow dancers to experience our studio environment in a welcoming, short-term format.

Themed camps remind us that dance is joyful. They spark creativity while quietly building coordination, musicality, and classroom skills.

Focus Camps: Leveling Up

For dancers who are serious about their training and looking to grow technically, our focus camps are where the real work happens.

These camps are designed for dancers who want to challenge themselves, strengthen their technique, and head into the new season stronger than ever.

What Makes Focus Camps Different?

Unlike regular weekly classes, focus camps offer concentrated training over a shorter period of time. That focused environment allows dancers to make noticeable progress quickly.

Benefits of Intensive Training:

  1. Technical Growth

With extended class time dedicated to specific skills — whether it’s turns, leaps, flexibility, strength, or style-specific technique — dancers can break down and refine movements in detail.

  2. Improved Strength & Conditioning

Summer is the ideal time to build strength. Without the demands of school, dancers can focus on conditioning, core stability, and injury prevention in a thoughtful way.

  3. Goal Setting & Personal Progress

Focus camps help dancers identify areas for improvement and actively work toward personal milestones. It builds accountability and work ethic.

  4. Confidence Heading into the New Season

Dancers who train during the summer often return in the fall more prepared, more confident, and ready to take on new challenges.

For competitive dancers or those hoping to move up a level, summer training can make a significant difference. Even just a few weeks of focused effort can create momentum that carries through the entire year.

8-Week Summer Class Session (Beginning June 1)

Our 8-week summer class schedule, beginning June 1, offers consistency and flexibility all at once.

This session allows dancers to maintain their training without the long-term commitment of a full season. It’s perfect for families balancing vacations, camps, and summer activities.

Why Continue Classes Over the Summer?

  1. Prevents Skill Regression

Dance technique builds over time — but it can also slip if not maintained. Taking summer classes helps dancers retain strength, flexibility, and coordination so they don’t feel like they’re starting over in the fall.

  2. Reinforces Muscle Memory

Consistency keeps the body familiar with terminology, combinations, and corrections. That muscle memory makes transitions into the new season smoother.

  3. Allows Dancers to Try Something New

Summer is a great time to explore additional styles without overloading a regular-season schedule. Interested in trying hip hop? Curious about contemporary? Summer is the time to experiment.

  4. Builds Discipline & Routine

Even one class a week provides structure and purpose during the summer months.

  5. Keeps the Studio Community Connected

Dance friends become a huge part of a child’s life. Summer classes keep those friendships active and strong.

The 8-week session strikes the perfect balance — enough time to grow and stay consistent, while still allowing families to enjoy everything summer has to offer.

Why Summer Dance Matters

It can be tempting to take the entire summer off. And while rest is important, staying engaged in movement — even at a lighter pace — offers incredible benefits.

Summer dance helps:

  • Maintain physical conditioning
  • Strengthen flexibility and coordination
  • Build confidence
  • Encourage creativity
  • Support mental well-being
  • Prepare dancers for fall placement and choreography

Most importantly, it keeps momentum going.

Dancers who stay active during the summer often feel more confident and capable when the new season begins. Instead of playing catch-up, they step into class ready to build on what they’ve maintained.

Something for Every Dancer

One of the best parts of our summer programming is that it meets dancers where they are.

  • New to dance? Try a themed camp.
  • Looking to grow technically? Join an intensive.
  • Want steady progress without overcommitting? Enroll in the 8-week session.
  • Want it all? Many dancers mix and match!

There’s no single “right” way to do summer dance — but there is a right fit for every family.

Make This Summer Count

Summer is a season of opportunity. It’s a chance to try something new.

To strengthen skills.
To build friendships.
To grow in confidence.
To set goals for the year ahead.

Whether your dancer is twirling through a themed camp, pushing themselves in an intensive, or staying consistent in weekly classes, every step taken this summer builds toward something bigger.

Spots for camps and classes fill quickly, and we encourage families to register early to secure their place.

Let’s keep our dancers moving, motivated, and inspired all summer long.

We can’t wait to spend June, July, and beyond dancing with you.
